1. Compress your files. This will make your files smaller and add some error checking when we decompress them to insure they were not damaged in transit. Use Stuffit (.sit) on the Mac, or Zip (.zip) on Windows. Stuffit Lite (Mac) is free to use for a short time and inexpensive to purchase. WinZip (Windows) is also free to use for a short time and inexpensive to purchase.
2. Name your file appropriately so we know what it is and who sent it. Also, avoid spaces and non-alphanumeric characters in the filename, as they can cause problems during transfer. Note that we can only except uploaded files, not folders. If you have multiple files inside a folder, you will need to compress that folder into a single .zip or .sit file before sending it to us.
3. Wait for the confirmation. When your file finishes uploading via this web form, you will get a confirmation that the file was complete. If you do not get this message, then we did not receive your file. When you do receive the confirmation message, Persidea Customer Service will automatically be notified that we received the file. Remember that there is no progress bar with the web upload form, and upload time depends on the speed of your connection and the size of your file. A 2MB file takes about 1 minute to upload on a cable modem.
If the web form does not work for you, or if your file is large and you want to see a progress bar, you can use Persidea's anonymous FTP site. To do this, you'll need an FTP client program on your computer.
Mac: The king of Mac FTP is Fetch. It's free for 15 days and then inexpensive to purchase. If you prefer something completely free, try D1FTP. Both run in Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X.
Windows: There's lots of FTP clients for Windows available. The most popular FTP client is WS-FTP, but also give Bulletproof FTP a look. Both are free to demo and inexpensive to purchase. If you prefer something free, try CoreFTP.
You'll need to open a connection with these settings:
Once you're connected, change into the "incoming" folder/directory. Select your file(s) and click the "upload" (or equivalent) button. Note: the incoming directory is write-only, which means you won't see your file listed after it has been successfully uploaded. Also, please call or email Persidea Customer Service or your Account Executive to let us know that you've uploaded a file.
